Cercon – metal-free ceramic crown
In the case of incisor teeth, it is usual to see that although the crown is esthetic, the replacement still does not give the impression of a natural tooth. The main reason is that the crown is supported by a metal substructure which means that it is a lot less translucent than natural teeth. This problem can be solved by using a metal-free ceramic crown. A metal-free translucent ceramic crown, Cercon, remains unnoticeable even for an expert eye from 5-10 cm. Cercon has been developed by Swiss researchers. When preparing Cercon, the lab technicians use CAD/CAM tecnology to design the anatomical features, size and shape of a tooth restoration on a computer. The CAD/CAM computer screen displays a 3-D image of your teeth and gums, allowing your dentist to use a cursor to draw the precise design of he tooth restoration. The CAD/CAM machine fabricates the restoration through a milling chamber that crafts the tooth-like ceramic material into a precise replica of the drawing. The Cercon system provides high stability. It is anti-allergic, translucent, biocompatible and has low thermal conductivity.
Indications: single crowns for front teeth and molars, maximum two pontics by bridges, all-porcelain crowns
Zirconium-oxide
The zirconium-oxide is metal-free, so it is anti-allergic. It meets the stricktest requirements of implantology. Since the reactions of the soft tissues to it are excellent, the gum remains healthy around the crowns and bridges.
Thanks to this new ceramic material (cercon), all-porcelain replacements can be made extremely stable and esthetically outstanding. All-porcelain restorations made of Cercon can last for decades as proven by 10 year clinical experience.
Zirconium is an esthetic and tissue-friendly solution. It has been used for 20 years in medicine since it is well tolerated by the human body.
